We are very happy with our finished film and feel we have used many different techniques, aspects and ideas from what horror films are mainly about and mainly focus on. For instance, we used not much lighting throughout our film as we felt this further adds to the mystery, anticipation and suspense of the film, and whilst researching, we discovered that most horror films tend to use dark lighting/not much lighting, and felt that by incorporating this into our own film, it would seem like a more professional horror film. Also, we used props that are mainly used and associated with horror films such as knives and rope, to create the effect of a proper horror film. We also used non-diagetic, scary, psychological music in our film to fit in with our chosen genre, which gradually builds up to create tension, suspense and a feel of uncertainty. We also used a horror themed font in our opening titles and used it in red, to signify blood and danger and put this in front of a black background to show the mystery and darkness of our film. Finally, we used a range of different camera angles such as close ups (used on the knife for example, to show it in detail and its importance as a murder weapon and to show the blood on it) medium close ups (used on the character of Abby's face to show her reactions and facial expressions) and long, low angle shots (used on the character of the masked man coming down the cellar stairs, as showing him from a low angle represents that he is in control and has more power than the two girls).
However, if we could change anything, we would have done a few more shots of the girls and slightly more dialogue and a few more shots of the masked man, as we felt more scenes could have been used to further build up the tension. Also, we feel that maybe the use of another location would have been better aswell rather than sticking to the same one. Overall though, we are happy with our finished product and feel that it fits in well with the horror genre we have chosen to base our film on.
