Editing Information

During the editing process, we had to decide what kinds of transitions and effects we were going to use which would fit within our chosen genre of film.

Once we began editing, we decided that it was best that we did not use many transitions or effects, and the only main edit we used was cross-cutting, where the scenes of the girls struggling to get away would cut to the masked man entering the cellar, then back to the girls and so on. We decided to use cross-cutting as it builds up the suspense, which we think works really well for our type of film.

We also felt that fades would work better for our production. We decided to use fades in the following places:

-  Fade in at the establishing shot where the two girls are introduced and we can see what is currently happening to them (they are struggling to try and break free from being tied up with the rope) and a fade out on this same shot

- Fade in of our production logo and a fade out which then carries onto the second shot which again, is a similar establishing shot of the one mentioned previously of the two girls struggling to break free which then fades out

- Fade in into the low angle shot looking up to the cellar door. This then fades out into the credits

- Fade out of the low angle long shot of the masked man opening the cellar door

We decided to use fades in these places to show minor passages of time and also to build up the tension in the film.
