We decided that in our film, we were going to act in it ourselves therefore the two main protagonists would have to be female. However, if male characters were used as the victims, I think this would seem a lot less real, as females are often used in horror films and portrayed as 'damsels in distress' who seem slightly weaker than males in these kinds of situations and who often need 'rescuing'. Our two main protagonists are portrayed in our film like this, and are portrayed in a slightly stereotypical way.
For the role of the masked man, we got a close relative to play his part. The role of the masked man's part in the film is very secretive and unknown and even in the two minute film, we know little about him, such as his name, what he looks like or what he sounds like, and felt the person who played him did a good job of keeping the character of the masked man's profile hidden, as this leaves the audience questioning who he is exactly and wanting to find out more.
