Research On Possible Distributors

We have decided the possible distributors for our film could be:

- 20th Century Fox
- Universal Pictures
- Columbia Pictures

20th Century Fox
20th Century Fox is one of the six major American film studios, as of 2011. It is also a member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). Its most popular film franchises include Planet of the Apes, Predator, X-men and many more. It has also distributed many popular American TV programmes such as The Simpsons and Family Guy.

Universal Pictures
Universal Pictures is also one of the six major movie studios, and is the oldest American movie studio that is still in continuous production. Like 20th Century Fox, it is a member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). Universal Pictures is also the longest-lived Hollywood studio. A few of its most popular film franchises are The Fast and the Furious, The Bourne Identity and The Mummy.

Columbia Pictures
Columbia Pictures is one of the leading film companies in the world, and like 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures, is also one of the six major American movie studios. It now forms part of the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Examples of its most popular films it has distributed are Quantum of Solace and The Grudge 1 and 2.

We have decided on these three distributors because they are big budget, Hollywood distribution/production companies that have been involved in the process of producing and distributing large, thriller/horror box office films. We have chosen to look at big budget, Hollywood distribution companies over smaller, independent companies, as we like the idea of our film being a well known horror film that could be distributed by any one of these distribution companies.

A few of the films which fall into the same category as our film (horror/thriller/psychological) that 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures have distributed include Taken, which was distributed by 20th Century Fox, The Last House On The Left and The Bone Collector, which were distributed by Universal Pictures and also, Columbia Pictures was also part of the distribution of The Bone Collector.
